Cheap Prom Tiaras: Pearl And Crystal Prom Jewelry

Most teens anticipate their upcoming proms with excitement. It is not only an occasion to get together with friends, dance, and have a riotous good time, but also has significance as a rite of passage in a teenager's life. For teen girls, prom is an event for which they need to look their absolute best. Choosing the right dress, shoes, and accessories can be a stressful yet enjoyable task. Girls regard prom as being somewhat similar to Cinderella's ball - and they want to feel and look like queens (whether they are nominated for prom queen or not). Prom tiaras have become the accessory of choice for creating a regal prom ensemble.

Prom tiaras should only be chosen after a prom dress has been selected. A crystal tiara seems to be a popular choice among prom tiaras, especially a plain white crystal tiara which can go with practically any dress color. A crystal tiara with colored crystal accents is also an option for anyone wanting to play up the colors in her gown. Either way, prom tiaras with crystals are a glamorous way to add glitter and glitz to  prom night. A pearl tiara is also beautiful option. Pearl tiaras tend to add more of an understated and elegant touch than a crystal tiaras. Of course, it is possible to find prom tiaras with both pearls and crystals, in case anyone has trouble deciding.

Another popular option is  prom tiaras with certain decorative motifs and designs. The most common designs include hearts, florals, and "paves," in which the stones are placed one beside the other, much in the manner of a paved brick house or road. There are more unusual prom tiara motifs out there as well, for example, a girl of Irish or Scottish descent might appreciate prom tiaras displaying Celtic designs and decorations.

Prom tiaras also come in differing sizes. Higher and heavier prom tiaras are not merely for the girl who wants to show off. Since many prom tiaras double as makeshift "combs" to hold the hair in place, girls with thicker hair would need heavier tiaras. Prom tiaras typically range from an inch to four inches in height, though four inches is a little more uncommon than the shorter heights (and sometimes more expensive).

The differing sizes, designs, and decorative baubles of prom tiaras are made to suit various dress styles and personalities, so every girl is sure to find something that suits her. Girls on a budget should not worry - a cheap tiara is very easy to find. However, anything decorated with Austrian or Swarovski crystals or real sterling silver will be more expensive than tiaras decorated with plastic rhinestones. Prices depend on where prom tiaras are purchased - popular accessory shops, like Claire's, usually offer fairly cheap tiaras (but often without the finer materials). Large and fancy tiaras like the "Braziliana" at JewelryandSilver.com can be pricey (this one is $90), but smaller and more modest prom tiaras can  cost as low as $15.

Jewelry is another important aspect of a girl's prom ensemble. Prom jewelry can usually be found wherever prom tiaras are sold. Prom jewelry includes earrings, bracelets, and especially necklaces, because necklaces help to beautifully accentuate the necklines of prom dresses. Some necklace styles are better suited to some dress necklines than others. For example, a strapless prom gown would be well set off by a pearl or crystal choker, and a long strand of pearls would go best with a V-neck gown. Necklaces of crystal seem to be the most preferred item of prom jewelry. The finest crystal necklaces are often made from Swarovski crystals, which cost considerably less than diamonds but are still not cheap; the Swarovski "all-around" crystal necklace is worth $200, while an interchangeable stone pendant is worth $55.

Shopping for a prom tiara and prom jewelry should be easy and fun, even on a budget. But since a prom is a very special, never-to-be-repeated occasion, it would be worth it to shop carefully and compare and contrast. Everything should be as close to perfect as possible for this once-in-a-lifetime event.
